Portuguese as a Foreign Language

To learn Portuguese is a marvelous decision, specially is we take into account its increasing popularity on the global scene – Portuguese possesses nowadays the status of an international language.

The fastest and easiest way to learn Portuguese is to do so in a country where this language is spoken. In fact, to learn to speak Portuguese, you have to live it. Do you already possess some competences (can you, for instance, read and write in Portuguese?) and wish to acquire and / or improve existing ones (such as listening and speaking)?

BabeliUM – Language Center presents a diversified offer in the field of Portuguese as a Non-native Language (PLNM) – Portuguese as a Foreign Language (PLE) and Portuguese as a Second Language (PL2).

The following courses are available on a continuous and permanent basis:

  • Annual Course, divided into two independent semesters (October – January and February – May), thereby allowing the possibility of partial attendance.
  • Summer Course (July).
  • Biannual Course, which takes place in Braga and Guimarães, divided into 2 semesters (October – December and March – May), thereby allowing the possibility of partial attendance.

In addition, other courses with specific features and periodicity may be arranged. These may be either a response to requests from organizations and / or groups of people who wish to acquire in-depth knowledge and competences in the field of PLNM, or they can be an initiative of BabeliUM in response certain needs, for example, tailor-made courses for teachers and other professionals.
